An affluent society begins with access to abundant, low-cost energy. Because carbon dioxide is a byproduct of our energy use, restricting CO2 will reduce the amount of energy available to mankind. In the developed world it lowers our standard of living. In the undeveloped world, it is often a death sentence, the difference between survival and death is but a few calories of food.
