A letter sent to the local paper …
The Editor:
Last week’s close-the -border poll, was certainly interesting … showing how strong is the current dissenting voices must paddle against.
Most citizens support this authoritarian government response to COVID 19. I do not.
Closing down the economy over a virus was both unjustified and insane. Media placing haloes on the heads of those who did so, perpetuates this economic tragedy. It feeds public complacency with uncritical propaganda.
Evidence of the thoughtlessness … park closures, quarantines for health people, irrational concern over children’s health. We are ignoring mountains of contradictory evidence on the wisdom of shutting the economy. Today, barricades still keep people out of Cathedral grove Park.
I’ll just paddle directly under the waterfall.
Those who never had a salary cut have no justifiable grounds to voice any supporting opinion on the wisdom of shutting down the economy. That includes Bonnie Henry, Adrian Dix, John Horgan and our drama-queen prime minister.
Full condemnation goes to all those compliant politicians who still take a salary while too terrified to raise a critical voice or meet to debate the regulations a few dictators are telling the regulators to enforce, on the road to adding a trillion dollars to Canada’s debt.
Shopping at Walmart causes them no anxiety.
The media deserves a special poke-in-the-eye for gleefully attending the funeral of investigative reporting.
The economy was brought to a halt by bureaucratic whim ensuring that free enterprise was tossed under the bus. Bureaucratic fiat regulates the reopening of our economy as well.
A future ignoring the historical source of our affluence will prove how much irrationality we will now support.
To quote Tomas Sowell, “It is hard to imagine a more stupid or more dangerous way of making decisions than by putting those decisions in the hands of people who pay no price for being wrong.”
Yes, it is a criminal act to be well paid from public funds and demanding that others not be allowed to take life-supporting action, to work.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts, I’m very concerned about the events happening now in our new world. I would welcome some real investigative reporting, which now appears to be a thing of the past.
The current transitions are very concerning, but our greatest problem is that so many people have been intimidated into silence. A clear, persuasive voice could win a lot of support. A bold challenge doesn’t yet land someone in jail.
Thank you for your very well written letter Gary. There are a lot of people who feel the same way, myself included, too bad the main media completely ignores any dissenting voices. A lawsuit has recently been filed, https://vimeo.com/440033263
Thank you for your well written letter Gary. Too bad our main media does not represent any dissenting voices. A lawsuit has been filed, this is an interview with the lawyer https://vimeo.com/440033263
Thanks for your supporrtive comment and thanks for the link. I wish him well in truying to set limits on what restrictions our manipulative or fearfull politicians may impose without even a debate in parliment.
