… trying to reason with one who fails to accept reason is the equivalent of speaking to rocks, …
The mark of civilization is that in disagreements, dialogue will rule the day, that we’ll discuss and argue points, remembering that our views need to be sold to an audience before any change can take place. To restrict free expression means that force will be used to stifle thought as speech is the action produced by thinking.
And so the blame for BC Hydro mis-direction must be laid a the feet of those responsible; our political leaders. We have for many years, elected people to public office that are either unwilling or unable to reject green activism.
And so the question, can bureaucratic control lead to societal success? Can a population flourish when every decision must be made by a self-serving committee? We’ve been warned of the dangers of doing so by the signers of the Magna Carta, by John Locke, by Ben Franklin, John Adams, and Thomas Paine. In fiction, George Orwell, Ayn Rand and many others paint dismal pictures showing what transpires when life-control is relinquished to bureaucracies.
A version of this was written for and published by the BC Conservative. The intimidation is almost beyond belief – government officials threatening fines and jail time for questioning catastrophic global warming. In the latest round, the Competitive Enterprise Institute and Exxon have both been issued subpoenas to provide more than 10 years of their […]
There are yet no alternatives for fossil fuels. It is impossible to find a viable substitute for hydrocarbon fuels either as an energy source or for the chemical building blocks that make a modern society possible. To stop using fossil fuel is to lose our society. So why do so many of our society’s leaders call for an end to the use of fossil fuel?
First, revenue neutral means the government will redistribute the tax collected, supposedly lowering other taxes. This does not mean you get your money back because there are innumerable other pockets that will be filled first….
Notably, the carbon tax is praised far and wide by what has become the two most influential groups in our society, the political bureaucracy and the environmental lobbyists. Both groups are unstintingly devoted to programming the world for the rest of us.
Today, combined-cycle natural gas turbines are the most cost effective means to generate electricity, yet that method has been rejected by the BC Liberals. Had we chosen to generate electricity with natural gas, the industry would have a stable market that would not only provide employment but build the infrastructure needed if and when the opportunity to market our gas around the world does come to fruition in the future.
….Wheat, rice and corn are all decedent from grasses. Through selective breeding, those greatly modified grasses today feed some 7 billion people. And consider that your friend, the dog, originated as a wolf thousands of years ago, and now, selective breeding gives us hundreds of canine variations showing little resemblance to their distant ancestors.
“Sure we have a carbon footprint. We just need to be proud and grateful that it happens to be a size 18 boot-print rather than being ashamed of it.”
But I want to talk about the biggest delusion of our day – the delusional idea that going green will benefit our lives. …..
It’s your life…..don’t let them steal it.
Most people are probably tired of reading or hearing anything more on my personal crusade, the global warming subject, but I ask, …..consider in what way is it important to you.
Most of the Islamic lead atrocities have occurred since Iran’s religious leader called for the death of ‘Satanic Verses’ author Salman Rushdie. They fear our free speech, not our retaliatory defence. If the Muslin world valued life they would stop brutalizing and killing their own people. Hence, brutality does not bother them, only our criticism is intolerable.
……. Only human beings can be programed to destroy the very thing that makes life possible – access to a low cost, abundant energy supply.
…….how much further down this road, taxing one to provide service to another, will we go before we open our eyes and our minds to reality. Are we going to go over the debt cliff before we stop? Are we going to tolerate a state that subverts all law in its zeal to provide all things to all people? Are we going to ignore the lessons of history and destroy a once affluent society,…….
….. If we do become poor, we should know that it’s because we’ve allowed misinformation to chain us – to stop our productive actions with a fraudulent belief…….
Sloppy definitions lead to sloppy thought processes, a dilemma unrecognized by many people. Full clarity in thinking can only happen if the concepts we use are firmly grounded by their antecedent concepts fully down to their root in the concrete, real world. It is only then that we can reap the fruit of understanding, the […]
So if you are still determined to turn out your lights, I ask that you not be a hypocrite. Do it for a month or more and then…..
In my pursuit of exploring the history of Barrak Obama and how he came to such influence I followed a lead to Bill Ayer and found this on his web site….. The end of an empire is messy at best And this empire is ending Like all the rest Like the Spanish Armada adrift on […]
…. They have morally elevated a perceived benevolent natural world over mankind’s developed world. The fight is not going to be won by an economic argument, for it is the moral right to support our lives in the only way possible, that is being vilified as being evil.
